Watching Caroline

Calling Grandma and Grandpa to tell them the news about walking on my cast!

I think I see Mommy doing this a lot...

YEAH!!! I am walking on my cast!!!

We told Caroline as soon as she could walk on her cast that we would take her to the Children's Museum. So, that's where we're going tomorrow. We are so proud of her. It's taken her 2 weeks to get comfortable walking on it, but hopefully that means we'll have a good week next week.

Do you notice my saran wrap on my leg?

A relaxing vacation...almost

Last Thursday, Patrick's parents rented a house in Wisconsin for the week. So, I decided to take the kids by myself on Thursday and Patrick was going to come on Friday for the weekend. Kathleen, Michael, and Mary all came too, so we were really looking forward to having a good time. (Which we did, despite Caroline breaking her leg). On Saturday, we went into town and let Caroline play at the park while some of us played tennis. After a little while, Caroline wanted to come watch Mommy play. I took a break and she was sitting on my lap. She got up and just tripped and twisted her leg in the right way. (I really thought she had just scraped her knee because it didn't look like she did anything). She cried for about 30 minutes and at that point, Patrick thought she might have broken it...

When we got back to the house, she cried for about 2 hours, off and on (more on than off). We iced her leg and elevated it so she was comfortable. On Monday, we took her in to the children's hosptial that Patrick worked at last year to have x-rays and a cast put on. She has what is called a "toddler's fracture." She had a VERY traumatic day with the x-rays and the cast. She's doing better everyday but still hasn't walked or put much weight on her cast. She'll have it on for 3 weeks total (She gets it off on Aug. 4-two days after her birthday...) and hopefully we will still have most of Aug. and Sept. to do some more swimming!! But, you never know with Minnesota.

Such a big smile

Thanks Mary Beth and Greg...I love to play with my toy!

She actually has been doing a really nice job. It's really helped me out so I can get dinner on the table without hearing Garrett cry because he's hungry. :)

Do you like the color of my cast?

I was set on having a pink cast when we talked about it before the hospital. The nurse made the mistake of saying, "Are you going to get a green cast to match your green dress?" So, after that, Caroline only wanted green. We thought it would be a problem in the next couple of days, but it hasn't been. :) She's happy with her choice.

This picture was taken a few hours after my leg was broken. :( Caroline felt well enough to eat some birthday cake though...

Are you supposed to be on the table?
